VLSITHON 3.0: University of Chittagong Wins the Battle of IC Physical Design

Semiconductor Manufacturing Process

ULKASEMI successfully concluded VLSITHON 3.0 with its Grand Finale and prize-giving ceremony, bringing together the finalists of this national-level Physical Design competition. Out of 106 teams representing 30 universities, 10 teams advanced to the final round after competing through the earlier stages of the competition.

Team Deviation from the University of Chittagong secured first place, followed by Team Voltix from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in second place and Team Density Demons from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in third place. The top three teams shared a total prize pool of BDT 2,00,000. The champion team received BDT 1,00,000, the first runner-up received BDT 60,000, and the second runner-up received BDT 40,000.

The ceremony was attended by Md. Nazrul Islam from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), serving as the Chief Guest.

Throughout the competition, participants had the opportunity to explore Physical Design and Place and Route (PnR) using Cadence EDA tools through hands-on training and technical assessment. The initiative connected university-level engineering education with practical exposure to semiconductor design workflows, helping students better understand the technical skills relevant to the industry.
