16 years ago, on 15th February 2007, we initiated the very first step to build ULKASEMI Pvt. Limited. What we see now as an established and growing company today began with only 4 brilliant and dauntless engineers who were courageous and visionary enough to share a wild dream. A dream to establish a silicon-based semiconductor design service company by tapping the unleashed brilliant engineer pool in Bangladesh.
On 16th February 2023, ULKASEMI Pvt. Limited has celebrated its completion of 16 years of business doing global semiconductor design services and inaugurated another new Design Centre at Tejgaon, Dhaka (Rahman’s Regnum center). By holding a grandeur ceremony with the gracious presence of Hon’ble State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Ministry of ICT, the Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as the chief guest, other significant Govt. officials, many other VIPs and influential people of various sector and associations. The hon’ble state minister congratulated ULKASEMI on its 16 years celebration and assured to provide all support for creating a SEMICONDUCTOR Bangladesh by 2030.
The journey of ULKASEMI was quite a bumpy and difficult ride. We passed and beat countless challenges, hurdles, and struggles to sustain a business that was very unimaginable for Bangladesh. The founder and CEO, Mohammad Enayetur Rahman, who has 35 years of hands-on experience working in the semiconductor industry in companies like AMD and Oki Semiconductor, had been able to get the foresight in the 80’s that in the coming days of this industry’s growth, globally it would require a huge pool of skilled and educated human resources and that would be mostly supplied by Asian countries. In the 90’s, he observed that India, Korea, and China were fully utilizing their resources to meet the global semiconductor industry’s requirements, but Bangladesh was nowhere in this picture. That’s when he knew he had to do something about it. A huge credit goes to the Chairperson and better half of Mr. Rahman, Dr. Arifa Chowdhury Rahman, for supporting and encouraging him to follow his dreams to initiate the big thing in Bangladesh that no one had dreamed of and been successful so far.
We gradually built, developed, and prepared our Bangladeshi resources to be capable enough to provide world-class design services for various parts of the semiconductor design process, e.g., Backend, Frontend, Analog, and Digital design to our global clients. Little by little, with word of mouth, big names in the global semiconductor industry started to recognize us for the quality service our workforce provides.
Our strategy to put the right people at the right time in the right place has made ULKASEMI the leader of the semiconductor industry in Bangladesh. We will not stop at this milestone and plan to expand into other sectors of our vast semiconductor industry. And so, Mr. Mizan Rahman, COO of ULKASEMI Pvt. Limited and CEO of TETON Electronics who has 30 years of design and management experience from Silicon Valley; specialized in Chip Design to full System Design, founded TETON Electronics as a sister concern of ULKASEMI Pvt. Limited, for building IoT systems, Smart Devices, Artificial Intelligence focused systems, and software solutions. We are committed to enable the IT Tsunami in Bangladesh. And thus, ULKASEMI and TETON are working together to create thousands of IT jobs in Bangladesh and earn valuable foreign currency for the country.
